On June 28, 2021, Sayeed Saifuddin Ahmed Al Hasani, Hon’ble founder of Mainia Youth Forum along with Mohammad Anisul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Barura Upazila inaugurated ‘Tree Plantation Program to Resist Climate Change’ in Barura organised by Hazrat Syed Mainuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari Trust, Anjuman-e-Rahmania Mania Maizbhandaria and Mania Youth Forum.
Earlier on 10th June 2021 he inaugurated the ‘Countrywide Tree Plantation Program’ aiming for planting one million trees throughout the year.
Sayeed Saifuddin Ahmed said that due to limitless carbon and greenhouse gas emission of industrialised countries, the existence of the earth is at stake. Coastal countries like Bangladesh are the victims of it. But it has been causing a great threat to all countries surely. To resist global warming and climate change, there is no alternative to proper implementation of the ‘Paris Climate Agreement’. Although in accordance with the ‘Paris Climate Agreement’ 197 parties expressed their consent to keep the temperature rise of the earth under 2° celsius and zero carbon emission by 2050, China, United States of America, India and EU who are most responsible for the climate change, are not taking adequate steps to reduce emission. Even they have failed to collect 100 billion dollar for ‘Green Climate Fund’.
Sayeed Saifuddin Ahmed Al Hasani applauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her climate diplomacy and establishing ‘Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Fund’ with its own finance.
Mohammad Anisul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Barura Upazila said that tree plantation and forestation is also important to resist global warming. Government has been taking multipurpose initiatives on climate change issue including increasing 17% forestland to 20%, reducing 15% carbon emission by 2030 , puting emphasize on renewable energy etc.
Praising the ongoing activities of Hazrat Syed Mainuddin Ahmed Maizbhandari Trust, Anjuman-e-Rahmania Mania Maizbhandaria and Mainia Youth Forum he urged all organisations to participate in raising mass awareness and extend tree plantation movement.
